5/4/04 - Well, we have had this website for years, but I have made a new website for our family using a free site.  We are going to keep this site up, but not really update it too often...if by chance I can't figure out the new one, then we can come back to this website.  Our new website will be...  thecoxkingdom.blogspot.com .  I will try to post a link on this website for easy access.  thanks for following our family.

4/21/11 - Musical season is upon is, but is close to ending.  My musical is over and Jim's will be done by May 1.  Our kids have had their share of babysitters and family members hanging around.  We have made some time to spend as a family...at the zoo, walking around and playing at a mall, and of course rough housing here at home.  Everyone remains healthy...fingers crossed :)  Aubrie has her birthday coming up on the 30th...she is a little excited.  She wants a "My Little Pony" party...something different.  Ashlyn is learning about saving the Earth and living a better way.  It is fun to hear her come home and recite everything she has learned.  She has her 1st grade music program next week as well as her church music program...a busy girl.  Kadence has a new fear of the dark and sometimes makes bedtime a little rough.  We order the little girls some lights called Kinderglo and they love them.  If you know a child scared of the dark...it is worth the money.  Sabrina continues to be her quirky self.  She has blood work due and will be having blood drawn next Thursday, the 28th.  We don't anticipate any odd numbers, but it is such a comfort to have it checked (even the slight stress it causes).  With school ending soon...hopefully we will update more often.  Once a month has been working, but so much goes on in our lives, it would be nice to update more often.

3/25/11 - Life in our house has been quite busy over the past month.  Jim and I have had conferences, concerts and we both have our musical rehearsals going.  I took on a second job (still in training) with Weight Watchers.  I am almost done with the receptionist training and this week I will begin my leader training.  The largest thing with Jim and I this month...we both officially found out we will lose our jobs at the end of this school year.  Lakeville schools hit a huge wall this year when the 3rd attempt at a levy was failed, yet again.  They had to cut over 15 million dollars and the music and art departments got hit hard.  We are worried about what will happen now, but something will...a plan is out there for us, we just need to wait to see what it is.  On a happier note...our girls are adorable.  We can't wait to get outside with them this summer.  it is Spring Break next week and we are hoping to make it to the zoo.  Ashlyn is nearing the end of 1st grade...hard to believe.  She loves school and has a lot of friends.  She has been losing teeth over the past year and she is close to losing number 6 (t is hanging...yuck!).  Her soccer season will be starting up in a month...we can't wait to get her active again.  She continues with her piano lessons, although practicing has been more difficult with our busy schedules, but she still manages to figure it out.  Aubrie is such a loving and caring human being.  She is the one who will cuddle with us and say, "I love you" and she will be the first to compliment an outfit or a new hair style.  She is progressing great in speech and can finally let us know how she is doing.  She is enjoying daycare and her new friends she found there this year.  Aubrie is taking a break from gymnastics, but will continue this summer.  She is also signed up for a preschool soccer program (the same one Ashlyn started with a couple years ago).  She is very excited to play like her big sister and she even has her own ball and net to practice with.  Sabrina and Kadence have transitioned into little girls.  The cribs are gone, the bedroom painted and decorated for 2 little girls, and they are talking.  Sabrina is still more quiet than Kadence, but also has a little temper.  She is going through a phase of spitting and hitting when things don't go her way, but we know it is a phase.  She loves to cuddle as well and have her hair done.  She has strawberry blonde, curly hair.  It looks quite cute in little pigtails and hair clips...the problem is she won't leave them in but wants you to redo it when she pulls it out.  Sabrina is due for blood work at the end of April, but seems to be normal and healthy.  Kadence is a bookworm.  She could read books all day and sing and dance.  She is turning into quite the talker as well.  Kadence also has her moments like other 2 year olds, but will always say she is sorry.  We still call her "bam-bam"...her strength still keeps us on our toys.  She broke her first crib, a dresser drawer, and then another crib.  She also opened her door last night (with a child lock)...we are in trouble.  April will bring, Spring Break, our musicals, and Aubrie's 4th birthday...she is a little excited to say the least.  Thanks for visiting our website...hopefully over Spring Break we will find time to add more photos.

2/20/11 - Almost a month a past since the last entry.  The little girls turned 2 and had fun celebrating.  We went to Red Robin, our family favorite for birthdays.  The girls had a farm themed birthday with balloons, plates, banners and even cute t-shirts.  I don't think they understand what their birthday is, but they enjoyed all the cake and ice cream and now know to say "2" when asked how old they are.  Aubrie was recently re-evaluated with speech and all her scores went up.  She still needs plenty of work, but she is improving.  We are hoping by summer to be done with speech.  Ashlyn just had her conference and it was great.  She is in the top reading group in her class.  The teacher said it is pushing her a bit which is good since there are still a few months left in the school year.  She really enjoys reading and writing and is improving every day.  She loves math and the daily homework.  She has to work hard at it, but doesn't seem to mind.  She recently went on a field trip to Orchestra Hall and loved it...she now wants to play the Tuba :)  Our household has had our fair share of sicknesses recently.  In Jnauary we battled Strep, Stomach bugs, and basic colds.  This past week Ashlyn was really sick and missed 3 days of school and has a lingering cough.  Sabrina and Kadence both sick by last Friday evening and are still battling it.  We took them to the ER on Saturday evening since their temps were over 104.  The girls looked cute in their purple hospital gowns. Both girls had chest x-rays and had nose swabs done (which they really enjoyed).  The x-rays showed normal viral gunk in their lungs...no pneumonia.  They both tested negative for RSV, but Sabrina tested positive for Flu-Strain B.  It is assumed that Kadence also has it then.  This is not covered by the flu shots we all had earlier in October.   Yesterday the little girls battled coughs and fevers (one was as high as 105) as well as a little dehydration.  Today things seem to be better.  The fevers are staying low (100.6 is the highest since waking up) and they are both eating a drinking a little more.  We finally have wet diapers coming from Kadence and so far the Tamiflu medicine they are on is not causing any stomach issues, which we were told might happen...fingers crossed that it continues.  The coughs are still worrisome, but the fevers were a huge scare for us...we are glad they are coming down with minimum help from medicine.   Aubrie has remained healthy through this latest flu...fingers crossed she stays that way.  The little girls shared germs with Mommy, but no fever yet for her.  Just a cough, runny nose, and headache...nothing a mommy can't handle :)  We will upload some birthday pics when we find time...maybe even later today if I get my act together.

1/25/11 - For those of you who only read this website and not Sabrina's caring bridge site...all her scans and blood work came back normal. We got the results of her final test today. We are grateful for her continued health. Even though we know the chance of her specific cancer returning is slim, I think we will always fear the worse...as her parents I don't think that will ever disappear. Over the past week our children have experienced an outbreak of the stomach flu...Aubrie had it the worse. Ashlyn managed not to have it, but it helped that she spent the night at Nana's and went to see "Peter Pan" with her as well...away from our home. Aubrie was able to go to "Elmo Live" with Nana on a different day and spent her first overnight at Nana and Grandpa's home. Sabrina and Kadence both threw up once and they were done...thank goodness. Sabrina was in a car and Kadence was in her crib...both were a big mess. Coming up tomorrow we will be heading to church as a family to help pack 1 million meals through Feed My Starving Children. Ashlyn helped us last year and is really excited to be a part of it again. On Thursday, Mommy gets to go on a field trip with Ashlyn to Orchestra Hall...a little bonding time :) It is hard to believe that next week is February...wow!

1/18/11 - Sabrina has had a long, but good day. She survived her scans and appointments and so far her test results are all good news. You can visit her caring bridge site to get specifics on today. Our only concern now is she has spiked a little fever and has a rash on her chest. The pediatrician and oncologists don't seem to be worried, but we are...it is our job as parents to over react...especially when the child can not speak for themselves. We are going to see how she is tomorrow and take it from there.

10/17/11 - Tomorrow is scan day for Sabrina. We were worried about her being healthy enough for the sedation since she has been sick for a couple weeks with a nasty virus, but she passed todays pre-op appointment with just a runny nose, excema behind her knees, and she is on amoxicillian for an ear infection. Tomorrow Sabrina will have an MRI which should last about 45 minutes. After her scans we will walk over to the Hem/Onc clinic where she will meet with her nurse and doctor and we will go over the results. We will update when we get home after that appointment. The other girls are doing well. Ashlyn and Aubrie both just finished antibiotics for strep throat...everyone around town seems to have it as well. Ashlyn is continuing piano lessons, working on her church spring musical, and we just signed her up for Spring soccer. She has a field trip to orchestra hall coming up...Mommy gets to go along :) Aubrie is continuing gymnastics and she is looking forward to playing soccer this summer as well. Aubrie is being reassessed in her speech class and since last summer she has moved from the 6% to the 15%...still not to 50%, but an improvement. She will be working more on the language than the speech. She is turning into a chatterbox with no inside voice! Aubrie is also potty trained!! She has been potty trained during the day for a few months, but she is now sleeping in underwear as well. So far, no accidents!! We are grateful to have only two in diapers/pull-ups. Kadence has been fighting the same virus that Sabrina had. Kadence has struggled sleeping and has been having more night terrors...even during nap time. It makes for long nights, but she is also improving. We have been using the nebulizer for a couple days to help her from coughing so much, but that also seems to be improving. Both Sabrina and Kadence are talking more and more. We are preparing to celebrate their 2nd birthday on Feb. 9. We will have a farm themed birthday since they both love animal sounds and animals...as long as they are on TV or in books :) Their personalities are coming out and it is fun to see who they are. Sabrina is very funny and quirky...she dances around the house smiling and making faces. She gets to be dramatic if she gets hurt or if someone hurts her feelings. Kadence is a stubborn little girl. She knows what she wants and when she wants it. She makes it clear whether through talking, actions, or screaming. She loves to cuddle and read books as well as watch TV shows like Caillou and Dora. We will update after tomorrows appointment!

1/8/11 - Happy New Year! We had a great 2nd Christmas celebration at Nana and Grandpa's house. The girls were so well behaved and received many wonderful gifts. We enjoyed our yearly baked eggs and caramel roll for breakfast and curried chicken for dinner...yum. In case anyone was wondering, curried chicken and toddler diapers are NOT a good pair. On New Year's Eve, Grandma and Grandpa came over and we celebrated the countdown on EST...Ashlyn stayed awake for it and we think she was a little disappointed. I think we had her all worked up for some magical moment and all we did was watch TV and watch people hugging and kissing in New York. We are getting into our busy time of year. Jim and I have our musicals beginning, we are looking into preschools for Aubrie, Ashlyn has more homework, the little girls are turning 2, and budget cuts for Mommy and Daddy. Ashlyn and Aubrie started 2011 with strep throat, luckily Sabrina and Kadence have not joined in on that fun. Coming up this month...Ashlyn will be joining us at church for Feed My Starving Children, Aubrie will be attending Elmo Live with Nana, Ashlyn will see Peter Pan on stage with Nana, Sabrina has an eye doctor appointment (rechecking after patching for 6 weeks) and Sabrina also has her scans on the 18th. Kadence has a pretty uneventful month...she will be continuing to talk...becoming quite the motor mouth.

12/26/10 - Yesterday was round one of our Christmas. Nana worked at the hospital all weekend so we are celebrating Christmas tomorrow (Monday) as a large family. On Christmas Eve we went to church where Ashlyn sang with her choir...always cute. Since we went to one of the family centered services, our kids were part of the Christmas story. This year our girls were stars (normally they choose angels or stars...I don't think they have ever been a king or a shepherd). All four girls (and Mommy and Daddy) held up their stars proudly to help guide the rest. After the service we went across the street to visit Nana at work. It was pretty quiet there so we were able to get a few photos with Nana and she was able to see them in their Christmas dresses. Nana also had their annual Christmas Eve presents...Christmas jammies :) Then we went home and met Grandpa and Grandma and ate some yummy food and Grandpa read "Twas the Night Before Christmas", his yearly tradition. It didn't go so well this year, but he was able to finish the poem. On Christmas morning, our girls actually slept in...which is good because Kadence had a night terror (which seems to happen when she skips her nap) and we were tired, as was she. The big girls came up first from their room. They were excited that Santa came! Mommy and Daddy gave them a gift before bed on Christmas Eve...a bunk bed! They were super excited to see it and were totally caught off guard...we got great video of their reaction. Once the little girls woke up on Christmas, Grandpa and Grandma arrived and we opened stockings and presents and we found time in there to eat some chocolate chip pancakes and a yummy egg bake. The little girls loved the boxes and their zhu-zhu pets. The big girls loved opening presents...even ones that didn't have their name on it :) After some quiet/nap time we had an early dinner of ham, potatoes and corn. Soon after dinner Mommy and Daddy left to go downtown and see Billy Elliot. It was a fabulous show and it was nice to spend some time without children! We love Christmas in this house...celebrating the birth of Jesus and family...it is a good time to reconnect as a family since September-December is busy with school beginning and many concerts between Mommy and Daddy. Tomorrow will be more excitement for our family and the rest of the week will be busy life as normal...dentist appointments, bills to pay, and plenty of family time! The new year will bring Sabrina's scan month...always an anxious time, but so far positive results. We were talking today and we feel Sabrina has been doing well, but now that scans are coming we start seeing things that get our mind running and we can't wait to get the scans done and over with. This time around, instead of a CT Scan, she will be having an MRI and an ultrasound. We thought since she has been clear we would like to reduce the amount of radiation she is exposed to. Our doctor agreed and thought if we alternated CT Scans with MRIs we would be fine. So this time around will be a little different. Those scans are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18 (in the morning). We hope you all have had a great holiday season thus far!!

12/14/10 - Concert season is in full swing for Mommy and Daddy. Sadly, the children are ill. Sabrina has an ear infection and her nose is a faucet of green...ewww. Kadence has pneumonia, but doing well...just coughing. Aubrie has pink eye, yet again. Ashlyn is the healthy one, with just clogged sinuses. We love our children, but we are not to fond of them sharing germs. Ashlyn had her church Christmas production and she was beautiful. She sang in a small group and did a great job. Aubrie is looking forward to meeting Santa tomorrow. She can't stop talking about him. Sabrina is quite the character recently. She makes us all laugh. Kadence is turning into quite the cuddler. She loves to sit on your lap and read books and watch movies. She still loves to be on the move, but loves to sit on your lap. We hope everyone is staying warm and safe this Winter. We have over 20 inches of snow here and are expected to get more this week. A white Christmas is in our future.

12/04/10 - We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We celebrated Mommy's birthday and the next day celebrated Thanksgiving. We all watched the Macy's parade on TV and the big girls colored the turkeys in the newspaper. The little girls loved seeing Dora and Big Bird in the parade. All the girls enjoyed the end...Santa! Sabrina would wave and Aubrie just stared. That weekend we also set up our tree and the girls helped decorate with ornaments. We started with just bulbs until the little girls learned not to touch them, then we added the nicer, family ornaments. Kadence was not happy to find out the ornaments had to stay on the tree...she cried for a LONG time just inches from the tree. She wanted the ornaments so bad, but now the girls just leave it alone. Ashlyn just had her church Christmas show today. She looked so grown up and smiled as she sang about Jesus' birthday. We were so proud of her. She even sang in a small group!! She is doing great in school...still reading, doing math and learning how to spell words she doesn't know. Aubrie is doing fabulous in her gymnastics class. We signed her up for the next session as well. She has the flexibility and the balance...on most days. Aubrie gets to sing in the big church with her Sunday school class next weekend...she is so excited. Sabrina fought pinkeye over Thanksgiving weekend, then passed it on to Kadence...so nice of her. She had another eye doctor appointment to look at her lazy eye again since it has been happening more and more. We decided patching would be the first step in fixing the issue. She gets her "good" eye patched for 1 hour each day...she is a trooper and doesn't mind it at all. We call it her "pretty sticker", even though it is far from pretty. We have also taught her to say "Argh" when asked "What does a pirate say?". Kadence is getting over pinkeye as well. She is climbing on our kitchen table and acting like a 3 year old :) She is learning the meaning of no and experiencing her share of time outs. She loves to cuddle and read books and loves to watch movies. It is fun to watch Sabrina and Kadence play together and with their older sisters.

11/20/10 - We called the oncologist clinic yesterday since we had not heard any of Sabrina's results. Once again, her urine sample did not work. We are going to stop trying to get urine until her scans in January. As much as we want those numbers, we trust that if something was happening it would be showing up somewhere else as well. Her blood work was good. Her noramephrines and metanephrines (not sure on spellings??) were very similar to her numbers in August. One was up and one was down, but normal. Sabrina and Kadence were put on a steroid for their breathing issues and we are finally off the neb machine!! The steroid is also done so we now wait and see if the girls stay healthy. Winter will be a long season for them. Ashlyn and Aubrie are doing well. Aubrie loves gymnastics and Sunday school and Ashlyn is loving school. She is reading and seems to be a math whiz :) JIm and I are good...at a music convention as I write. We had two days with no kids...nice, but we miss them. We can't wait to cuddle with them tomorrow. Today is also my b-day...a big deal to the kids, but another number for me :) Funny to know that 32 years ago there was a snow storm and I only weighed 11 lbs 5 oz...yikes to my mother :) We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas!

11/9/10 - Sabrina survived her oncology appointment today. You can read her Caring Bridge site for more in depth details, but she was a trooper. She did great for the doctor, but drawing blood was no fun :( We will get results in a few days....hopefully before the weekend (we hate waiting).

11/4/10 - Sabrina had her eye appointment today. She was great, she let the doctor do anything he wanted...no fussing. She had her eyes dilated so she was funny to watch as things close by were a bit blurry and she laughed when she got to wear the one size fits all sunglasses. Her eyes look beautiful and her vision is perfect. The only issue is she does indeed have a version of a lazy eye. It is called Intermittent Exotropia. Basically her right eye will wander when she is relaxed or tired...the time when the brain also relaxes...it forgets to keep her eye straight, silly brain. Since everything else looked good, we will bring her back in 3 months to make sure things haven't gotten any worse. This was the best possible outcome for something like this...yippie! The big girls and Jim will be heading to Wisconsin tomorrow to visit the Ouimette Family and watch a little Hawkeye action on Saturday. The girls are excited to see Olivia, Soren and Anya...their mom and dad too :)
Comments
And we are excited to see them, but bummed that we will miss you and the twins!

11/1/10 - We had a blast on Halloween. Ashlyn was a crayon, Aubrie was Dorothy and the twins were bumblebees. It was a beautiful chilly day...perfect for trick or treating. On the 30th the girls watch Grandpa carve our pumpkins. The girls say they helped, but Grandpa did most of the work. Ashlyn is beginning to read like a pro...it is so fun to listen to her read. We still can't believe how far she has come in one year...so amazing. Aubrie is finally on the right oath as far as potty training. It has been a while since an accident. She finally went on the potty at church...a big deal. Sabrina is too cute for words. She has the quirkiest personality that even we can't figure out. She and Kadence are recovering from their latest colds...ending in an ear infection for Sabrina and both girls were on the nebulizer for about a week. Sabrina is still struggling with dry skin on the back of her knees...it seems to be improving...we think. Sabrina has an oncology appointment next week on the 9th. They will check her blood and urine levels to make sure things are still where they need to be. Sadly, Sabrina may have another obstacle to overcome. We have noticed her right eye looking outward when she is looking forward...a little bit of a lazy eye. I have become a great google user and according to the computer she has something called intermittent exotropia. We are hoping to get into a children's opthamologist (no idea how to spell that...sorry) sometime this week or next week to confirm this and proceed with whatever the next step is to improve this. It seems to always be something for Sabrina...one of these days it will get easier for her. Kadence is beginning to talk. She will repeat two syllable words...sometimes she is no where close, but she tries. It is fun to hear her beginning to communicate. She is in a waving phase where she will wave at anyone in a mall, the doctors office, or anywhere else. She reminds us so much of Ashlyn at this age. We have all officially brought out the winter gear. Snow is in the forecast for this weekend. Everyone has winter coats, snow pants, boots, gloves, and hats ready to go...bring it on Mother Nature!!

10/23/10 - We have had a busy few weeks here. We celebrated Grandpa's 60th birthday and Uncle Scott got his Fire Chief pin on the same evening. The girls had fun at the Fire Station open house and thy got to see and pet a K9 dog. They all got matching yellow fire hats, which the little girls just loved, but they enjoyed wearing them backwards. Ashlyn and Aubrie loved climbing on the trucks. Ashlyn's soccer season has come to a close. Her team improved this year, but still didn't manage a win...although we tied and lost just by 1 a few times. Ashlyn scored a great goal and we were all excited. Great Grandma Tootie was visiting and was able to see it as well. Sadly, Daddy was home with the sick little girls...he missed the goal, but heard all about it. Speaking of sick girls...thus begins our busy weeks. Late in September our girls had colds...we figured it was the beginning of school year illnesses. Just when we think they would be getting better someone would get a fever again. Ashlyn has been the healthy one...thank goodness for one. Aubrie had a cold/fever on and off and then we thought she was better, but oh no, she got pink eye. Her first set of drops didn't help, so we did another week. We are now waiting to see if pink eye is gone. So far it has not passed on to any of her sisters...fingers still crossed. This past week fevers have disappeared. All the girls were able to be back at daycare, finally. Sabrina and Kadence both battled a nasty virus...we were sure Sabrina had an ear infection due to a fever that liked to spike, but nope...ears were perfect. They checked her blood count to make sure there was no pneumonia... white blood count was a little high, but still normal. She got better slowly. Kadence had the same virus, but she got the chesty cough. We got worried about her breathing, but just waited and it improved. We had a week of healthy kids and now their poor little noses are beginning to run. We had family photos taken yesterday and we were outside in the 50 degree weather near a stream. I think it caused out girls to get colds...our fault. Jim and I had conferences...one on the same night. Jim had a concert...same night as his conferences. Ashlyn had her first grade conference...all good news :) Today we went to the Mothers of Multiples Halloween party. It was fun to see all the kids dressed up. Ashlyn is a yellow crayon this year...super cute. Aubrie is Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Sabrina and Kadence are bumblebees. Kadence does not like to wear the hood and she sweats a ton in the outfit...but still cute. We look forward to trick or treating in a week. Just an update on Sabrina...she was scheduled for a urine check in September...her first since July. Our sample we sent in was too dilute so they couldn't get what they needed. We tried another sample...same thing. The whole process of getting a sample, mailing it, and waiting for results takes about 5-8 days. So doing that twice was a long couple weeks. After talking with her nurse and oncologist, we decided to bring her in early in November. They will try to get a urine sample on site and then also check her blood. We know she doesn't like having her blood checked, but it is nice to have the extra tests run...from a Mommy's view point. She is due for her scans in January. This time around, we decided not to have a CT Scan (due to radiation fears) so she will be having an MRI and ultrasound instead. It won't be able to give us a picture to compare to our other's but it will look at different tissues in her body. I talked to another person and they came up with the term "scanxiety" for tests time. I like the term and will use it from now on. Only parents who have been through things with their children could understand how true it is. You want your child to have these tests, but without the pain and fear of course, but then waiting for results is sooooo long...you're not sure if you want to hear them or not. You want to hear the results, but only if they are good...and if they are not what you were expecting, you want the doctors to have a quick and easy fix for it. Anyways, we are all good and looking forward to Halloween...enjoy what is left of fall. We heard the word "snow" in our local forecast...ugh.

10/2/10 - We went to the pumpkin patch today and picked out a family pumpkin. We picked up a few more pumpkins from a student of Jim's...his family grows some on their land. The girls had fun even though it was a little cool and windy. Ashlyn and Aubrie enjoyed climbing on hay bales...Ashlyn was shown how to eat the hay...yuck. The little girls both have colds...bringing them outside probably was the best idea, but we have to take advantage of the sun this time of year. Enjoy our new photos from the end of September and beginning of October.

9/24/10 - It has been a couple weeks since our last update. Things have been busy with school, church and regular life. Ashlyn is enjoying first grade. She loves recess time the best :) We are sad to say that music is not her favorite class. She loves coming home and doing her homework and practicing piano. It has a taken a few weeks to get her into a routine, but I think we may finally be getting one down. Ashlyn is playing soccer this fall. She got a goal in her first game and was ecstatic! She is working on her defense now. It is fun to watch her games, but hard to find people to help watch the other three girls. When they get older it will be easier to bring them along. Aubrie continues to do well at daycare and with her speech classes. She is still trying to figure out potty training. Just when we think she has it down...she goes back to having accidents. Someday we will be done with pull-ups and diapers (we hope). Aubrie had her preschool screening and passed with flying colors. She did get a referral for speech, but we had requested it anyways. Sabrina is getting more active...and vocal. She doesn't quite say words (besides mama and dada), but she makes plenty of noises and squeals. She is working on three more teeth at the moment so life is a little rough. We just had another urine test ran for her, but her urine was too dilute so we sent in a new sample today. We hope this one will work. Kadence is trying to speak more words. It is fun to ask her to repeat something and hear her actually try. We may have another chatterbox to deal with. Kadence is also battling her first cold of the fall season. We hope it passes quickly. Kadence and Sabrina are enjoying daycare. The first few days were rough for Sabrina, but she has warmed up and knows the routine...mommy isn't ditching her, I will return to pick her up :) JIm and I are surviving school. We have a busy life right now, but we wouldn't trade it for anything. Maybe one night out here and there would be nice :) We will update whenever Sabrina's results come back...it will also be updated on her caring bridge site.

9/6/10 - Jim and I enjoyed the state fair and enjoyed eating our way around. We saw some live newscasts and other TV shows. We had a blast watching everyone push strollers around and argue with their kids...one day our whole family will enjoy the fair, but for now we will take advantages of babysitters :) Last Sunday we had a birthday party for Grandma...46 years young ;) The girls had their first taste of ham balls and they loved them...well, three of them did, Kadence wasn't too sure. Jim and I had workshops for school and the three younger girls went to daycare full time. Ashlyn stayed with Nana for the week. We ALL survived, but were grateful for a four day weekend together. On Wednesday, Ashlyn went to the fair with Nana. Ashlyn made it on TV during the newscast. They talked to her and showed her plenty on camera. She has watched the recording of herself many, many times. It was really fun for her and nice to have some one on one time with Nana. We ended our summer at the zoo today. It was in the 60's and not very sunny...perfect for the outdoors. The girls were delightful...which isn't always the case in this family. We spent a lot of time at the farm area and the girls fed goats, chased chickens and rode on the wagon. Tomorrow begins our new routine. Ashlyn beings first grade and will leave with Jim by 6:30 am. The little girls and I will head out around 6:50 am. Ashlyn is very excited...outfit is chosen, bag is packed, and she is thrilled for her first school lunch...hot dogs (yum??). Wish us all luck this first week!

8/27/10 - Summer is coming to an end. This afternoon Mommy and Daddy are going to the state fair while the girls stay home with a sitter :) Monday begins our new family routine as Mommy and Daddy head to work and the girls head to daycare. It will be a hard transition for our family. Getting up early and getting everyone out of the house by 6:45 am will not be an easy task. Today gave us some much needed good news! We are always worried about our girls, whether Sabrina's cancer will ever return...are the other girls sick with Neuroblastoma and we just don't know it...every little thing causes us to worry in one way or another. We chose to have all the girls tested for signs of Neuroblastoma. Last Monday we went it and had Sabrina's blood drawn and to drop off three urine samples...fun times :) We got the call today that Kadence, Aubrie and Ashlyn have normal cathecholamine levels, something Sabrina did not have at diagnoses time. It was also fun to compare those numbers to Sabrina's from last July. Sabrina was right in there, even with Kadence...no one would know she had a nasty, cancerous tumor inside of her a year ago. We tested Sabrina's blood because of a bump on her lower back...feels like a rib poking out. We were worried it was a mass of some kind pushing the rib out, but her blood levels are still great. Which means, there is another, hopefully non alarming, reason for the bump. We will check it more closely in January when her next scans are scheduled. Overall, we couldn't be more excited about the news of 4 healthy girls. We can now start the school year off with peace of mind...and hopefully some better night sleeps.
