11/29/11:  How has it been that long since I updated this site.  So much is going on.  Things have been quite stressful between Devon's issues at school, the neurologist never getting back to us or I should say the neuro psych ward in DC or Morgantown...

He excels academically.  He can multiply, divide, reads chapter books.  He scored on a third grade reading level at school for placement testing.  Math he is about a 4th or 5th grade level.  If only we could get his social/emotional...Brain to be even with that we would have a genius on our hands!!!

Megan is doing fabulously at school.  She is the helper for everything!  She sings NON STOP!!  She is all about being Mommy still and helping out Logan with whatever he needs.  She now has a big bedroom all her own!!  She is always with Mommy, loves to be with mommy, goes to the store with mommy does everything with mommy, would sleep in my room every night if I let her.

Logi Bear is just getting used to his own room!!!  He is so fun right now!  He plays with everything especially Megans kitchen.  To say he loves it would be an understatment!!  He's talking and running....AND EATING!!!

9/6/11:  BACK TO SCHOOL!!!

Devon:  He started school on Aug 22nd.  His teacher is fantastic.  I was able to have a long talk with her at orientation the week before school started.  I could tell her all his struggles with impulsivity/agression.  We talked about his IEP at his last school.  He also has a student teacher which is great, one more adult in the room, which now makes three in his room!!  So far he is having a fantastic month.  His teacher couldn't believe he was reading an entire book all alone and out loud at orientation.  He said to her "I'm a reader!"  And he of course demonstrated his math abilities as well, asking if she knew what 9+8 was..., he said "It's 17 of course!"  She said she had plenty of experience enriching kids that are well beyond kindergarten level.  I'm so excited for him.  His road so far has not been perfect.  They are still working with him on personal space.  He has lost part of recesses on 2 days already.  I'm sure there will be more and thats ok.  We deal with it at home.  His teacher and I have an open dialogue, she knows I am right up the street at the middle school.  I'm glad we transferred him to the best Elementary school in the county, and I'm happy we decided to hold him out the extra year.  He will excel in academics but most importantly he has matured!

Devon also had his MRI of his brain last monday.  It was rough on me to watch my child fall lifeless onto the table after being put to sleep.  I felt like I was standing in a morgue looking at my child.  It was a scary experience that I never want to feel again.  I began to cry when I got back to the waiting room and was thankful Nanny came with me for the MRI. He did very well and was so sweet when he woke up, it was like he was a toddler again and just snuggled until he woke up.  We don't get that much anymore because he is so active!  We will get results at the end of September at our next appt.  Don't remember the exact date.

MEGAN:  She is loving Pre-K again!!  Loves her teacher Mrs. Walker.  She is her little helper since went a yr early last year.  Megan is also getting enrichment this year since she is ahead in Pre-K.

Megan is having a hard time at night sleeping in her room by herself.  She feels like she is left out because as she states every night, "Mommy, why do I sleep all by myself at night, you have Daddy, Nanny has Snoopy, Devon has Logan, and I have nobody...Why?"  Heartbreaking I know.  So we tried Chewy, but he's too old to get up the stairs anymore.  Then we tried Beckham, but he wants to be with me and Sean.  So I decided to ask her if a little fish in her room would be enough of a friend to help her sleep at night and not feel alone.  She said she thought so.  So today we are going to the pet store to get a fish bowl and fish...and a princess castle in the tank... and hopefully the fish will help solve the problem. If not it becomes my class pet.  This could be a disaster but hopefully not.

Logan:  Logan is a kid!!!  He plays like a kid, runs like a kid and is starting to talk!!!  He says, bear, ball, bottle, shirt, sock, that, mom, dad, nanny, megan, devon, dog, car, cup, diaper (my favorite, its just so cute).  We are going to call his ear specialist to get test results on the bacteria culture.  He will likely need three more shots of rocephin (sp?)  a strong antibiotic.  At this point I just want him better!!!!
7/28/11:  Summer is flying by!  Not long until we are back to school.  Megan starts back to school on the 15th, she is going back to the private school for one more yr.  Sean and I both start back on the 17th, and Devon starts Kindergarten on the 22nd!!

Devon has been doing well and loving his football practices.  However, when we signed him up we had no idea it was 5 days a week practice from 6-8:30pm every night until the first game, then 3 nights a week after that.  Its a bit much but he loves it and it is fun to watch.  Devon also lost his first tooth on Monday July 25th.  The tooth fairy left him $3 and Devon was so surprised!!

Megan has been doing great at Basketball camp!  She is just a natural athlete.  She can dribble now, and a bounce pass and has learned how to properly shoot.  However at night, she has been having BIG issues with sleeping alone.  She's scared of everything at night.  Last night she was up from 1am -4am.  UGH!

Logan went back to his ear specialist.  She continued his antibiotics for another 10 days.  If it doesn't improve by Aug. 8th, then he will be getting shots of a strong antibiotic in his legs.  She will also culture his ears again to see if the bacteria has returned.  Poor guy.  He is currently on: Omnicef, albuterol, ciprodex, pulmicort, singular, nasonex, flouride, and ibuprofen b/c he is currently getting 3 molars and 3 eyeteeth all at once.  Can the poor baby have anything else to deal with!!  Still as sweet as can be.

We are heading for a quick little vacation in a few days.  We are going to visit Uncle Norbie and Aunt Mary.  We are spending one day at the beach with the kids on Monday and Tuesday they will be going on the boardwalk/rides.  Then its back home.  Time to get ready for another school year!!

7/19/11:  Devon is home from the neurologist.  He spent 24 hrs there with wires attached to his poor little head.  He said it didn't hurt to attach them, then they wrapped his head with gauze and it looked like a turbin.  He is home now and doing fine.  We have an appt on Aug 10th with the neurologist to go over the results.

7/10/11: Sean and I had our 10 yr wedding anniv.  We watched our wedding DVD and drank a bottle of champagne (ok so I drank it), ordered in dinner afteer the kiddos were all in bed and had a great night.  It was hard to watch parts of the wedding DVD.   Seeing Rich and hearing his messages to us, it hits Sean really hard, and seeing my cousin Kate, having so much fun dancing away and looking beautiful.  We think about them often and miss them.  It is wonderful to have them as a part of our history and memories!!

Logan is doing much better.  No more blood from the ears or goop!!  He has his 15 mo check up tomorrow (a little late I know).  Devon has his 24 hr brain test on the 18th-19th. Aug 1-4th we will be going to Uncle Norbies house in NJ so we can catch up and hang out with the WELGE family and to take the kids to the beach and boardwalk!!

7/2/11: My parents left today and it was sad to see them go.  They won't see the kiddos until xmas.  :(   During the week we went to NJ to see Grandma Funzy and Great grandma!!  The kids were good, little hyper but understandable.  Devon was so great with GGGma!!!  He was so sweet!

Logan is doing better.  He is no longer bleeding from the ear.  He did have a weird bacteria in his ears, which caused the one to start bleeding and the other just to be ridiculously gross and goopy.  The other would have started bleeding to eventually,  but we stopped it soon enough.  He can keep his tubes!!  He is on high dose of antibiotics and ear drops.... and probiotics, allergy meds, nasal spray, daily breathing treatments, etc.....  Poor little man!!  And he's getting two molars!!  All in all still a happy child though.  He has started some tantrums here and there, but is now eating well again at least.  I think his ears were probably hurting and had a hard time swallowing without pain.

We are going to a 4th party tomorrow with friends, then to see some fireworks.  On Monday we will watch them from our deck!!  So nice to be able to just watch them from home.  The kids are being awesome lately!!

Weekedays are easier, Logan goes to daycare to stay on his normal schedule and to give us a break (or me!!)  The other two are home all the time and we have done lots of fun stuff so far!!.  They just got bikes for their birthdays from Gma and Gpa!!  Pics to come soon.  They love them and we get a good workout from helping Megan.  She is still working on her balance a bit.  Devon is doing really well on his own.

Sean and I are still trying to plan something for our 10th wedding anniversary!!!  We can't believe it has been 10 yrs!!!  In October it will be 15 yrs that we have been together!!  Thats insane!!  We don't really have the money to do something for us, we have used most to do stuff for the kids (soccer, gynmastics...etc)  We will try to figure something out.

Thanks to Gma and Gpa we got to go to the alamo drafthouse movie theatre, which is a movie theatre and restaurant in one!!  You order dinner and drinks and all while watching the movie!!  It is so great, but again, lots of $$.  We are cery apprciative of our night out, we don't get to do stuff that often.  Thank you Mom and Dad for evrything, I hope you had as good of a time this past week as the kids and I did!!

6/21/11:  Ok, so I have uploaded my pictures before the laptop died.  OOPS!!  There are pictures from soccer, easter, school field trips to the zoo, devons preK graduation, Dino Land trip this summer, logans 1st birthday and devons 6th birthday (thats when the laptop died).  Some are lopesided and I will try to fix them.  Sorry its been so long!!!

A little more info on the kids... its been a while.

DEVON: He did really well in school this year.  He can read any level one or two books on his own.  He can add, subtract 4 digit numbers.  He can multiply and divide most numbers in his head.  (slightly mathematically inclined!!)  He loves to play strategy games with Sean, not kid games... Sean's adult games for 12+.  He likes doing anything where he can learn.  He really like dinosaurs lately.  They love the show Dino Dan.  He loved going to Dino Land and seeing them up close.  Devon is also seeing a neurologist still.  He is going for a 24 hr study with electrodes attached to his head.  They are doing a brain scan looking for seizures or any other abnormalities, this is on July 18th.  He will also be going to Morgantown to WVU for a full neuropsych workup at the pediatric psych ward. This will be anywhere from 3-6 months from now.  We have asked any family that has any knowledge of any mood disorder or depression or bipolar like tendencies to please share your insight with us.  They want all family history when we go.  Alcoholism already makes him a qualifier for possible Bipolar or a mood disorder.  We will keep everyone posted as he goes through all of this.  He has been doing very well and improving with some of his social issues.  Sean deserves much of the credit.  We are happy with our decision to keep Devon out of Kindergarten this yr.  He had an extra yr to work on his social skills.  Will he be bored, most likely... will this lead to other issues...maybe...  but socially he has a better chance if he can control his impulsivity.  He works with him constantly on everything.  He makes Devon's future look so much brighter.  He loved doing soccer this year and is a natural at the defensive positions... funny thats where his Daddy's position always was.

MEGAN: She also did so well in school this year.  I feel badly because lots of her friends will be starting Kindergarten this yr but she misses the cutoff by 9 days.  She will be the oldest in her class. However because she misses the date we were able to hold Devon out and let him start Kindergarten later!  She was timid at first on the soccer field not used to having a coach, however by the end of the season we saw her athletic potential start to shine as Daddy taught her what it meant to be aggressive on the field and to "get the ball" and "BE tough"  She loved it.  Their coach was awesome.  She can spell some words and is starting to sound out reading too.  She is also adding as well small numbers of course.  She loves to play house when indoors and still with her princesses.  When she is outdoors she turns into the tomboy!!  She has her little attitude that can shine as well.  She has learned that lovely word..."FINE"  It was inevitable.  She is a sweet heart and if we let her she would have sleepover on our floor every night.

LOGAN:  He is better known around her as "Yucky Ears" because they are constantly draining this nasty goop.  They have been tested for bacteria and all seems well, they say he is just extremely goopy!  He had a staph infection in the ears around his tubes, but thats all cleared up.  He just has lots of 'stuff' in his head which I guess lead to the 16 ear infections he had in his first yr.  He is always on the move going somewhere and getting into something.  He is still the happiest baby I know.  He is really catching on to everything now.  He is signing up a storm.  He eats some foods, but sort of has the same texture issues that Megan had.  He gags on lots of harder food.  Finally at almost 15 months he is eating Kix cereal, not cheerios, those are too solid.  If it wasn't for the ears, he would be perfect!!!

6/19/11: HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY DEVON!!!!  Devon had an awesome birthday full of fun and presents!!  We went to the church for a Fathers day dinner/lunch.  They had horse rides for the kids.  They loved it.  Devon got an extra lap because it was his birthday.  He got dinosaurs from logan, an awesome car that megan picked out, games and leapster game and star wars stuff from us, and magic treehouse books and star wars droid fighter ship from Nanny.  We had an Oreo Ice cream CAKE.  He loved it!!!   Then we played Playstation Move, Devon was great at ping pong, I loved the volleyball game of course.

We can't believe it has been 6 yrs since we became parents on fathers day.  Devon is growing to a wonderful bright boy!

I will be updating pictures soon, I PROMISE!!!  It will take a will but I will do it, especially when Gma and Gpa are here.  Gma promised me the time to do it.

Stories

4/30/11: Found out today that Beckham has cancer.  It is very sad and we already have explained to the kids about it.  We do not know how long we have with him but we will make it great for him.   4/18/11:  Logan got his tubes today.  He is a bit unstable today and off balance.  He gets startled more easily.  ...

2/20/11:Today I am taking Megan to see Princesses on Ice in DC.  We get to take the metro in and walk around the city a bit.  She will be in awe.  Before the show they have all the gowns set up for pictures and stuff.  She is very excited and trying to figure out which princess to be for the show.  I think it is...
