OUR STATE SWIMMING COMPETITOR!!!!!
 We had the pleasure of traveling out to Rapid City this weekend to watch Grace compete in the State Championships for the 50 Backstroke...and she did not disappoint! :) We loaded up the car and headed 364 miles across the state to Rapid City. On the way out, we made one stop in a diner in Murdo, SD for gas, bathrooms and a little light lunch before we continued on. From there is was a quick two hours to the hotel getting in at about 2pm Mtn Time. I am pleased to say that we made it out the door 5 minutes early leaving at 8:55am! :)
It was straight to the pool with the kids where we played for most of the afternoon. From there dinner and back to the pool where Emily's good friend and two children joined us for some time in the water. Then it was off to bed...all six of us in one room! Mom and Dad in one bed, the girls in another and then the boys on the air mattress on the floor. The setup actually worked out really well. Unfortunately, little Quinn was WAY over tired and he thought it would be good to see Dad every hour and woke up as such. The only saving Grace...get it? ;)...was Grace slept through the whole thing and was able to get a good night sleep. So happy the kids are sound sleepers once they are out.
It was up at 6am this morning to get everyone out the door and Grace on the pool deck by 6:50 for warmups. After 40 minutes in the pool, it was sitting around time until Grace's race. Thankfully, it was only a little under two hours. Grandma Teresa and her friend June, Erin and Grace's aunt Dana. Thank you all for coming. It meant a lot to Emily and I that you could make it and definitely a lot to Grace!
Grace finished 4th in her heat and still waiting to hear overall. Regardless, we are SUPER proud of her! You can watch her amazing skill for yourself....

After the meet it was back to the hotel for a little time in the pool and then packed up for our drive back. The kids did an awesome job! We made it all the way back WITHOUT stopping! I was so happy we didn't have a break in there.
Well...so ends the first Friedman roadtrip. Until next time....
