Stories Long over due update!
January 28, 2011
So many things to share... where did we leave off...
July
Masen had so much fun on his trip w/ Yaya & Papa. Poor kid had a cold on the way there, & slept on Yaya's lap. But not until he got to play with the air blowers & lights. They went to the beach, & to some Monuments. Oh & they went on a boat trip - & Masen even got to steer it! They all had a blast together.
We also made a trip out to Aunt Nancy's & Uncle Lenny's in Grand Haven, so a family BBQ. It was fun. We played at the beach & went back to their house for the party.
August
Katy & I took a vacation with the kids to Grand Haven. It was so much fun! We stayed at Aunt Nancy's & Uncle Lenny's for 2 nights/3 days. Uncle Terry was there to. Elly hasn't seen him since she was a baby, & Masen had never meet him. We played at the beach, walked out the light house. And 1 day we went to Muskegon & did some sight seeing. We went to a fire truck museum, 1920's house, 1890's house. The kids liked the firehouse the best. We also had a nice picnic in the park to. We also went & saw Aunt Nancy at work. She works at the Grand Haven Museum. She gave us a private tour. The kids had so much fun!
Then we got home we rested for a day & headed off on a another vacation with the Bennett's to Flint to see Thomas the Train. That was so much fun. We had adjoining rooms. All four kids had so much fun together. There was a heated indoor pool, so we spent a lot of our time in there. Masen has been really into trains lately, so he was so excited to ride on one. There were big moon bounces set up, & lots of the old houses around you could tour as well. Unfortunately it started to rain, so that stopped us a little short, but we still had fun. Then Laura & I took the 2 oldest & went to Bronner's. They had so much fun looking at all the Christmas & Halloween stuff.
Finally in August, Elly took the last vacation (yes 3 vacations in August can you believe it!!). She went on her special trip w/ Yaya. They went to Mackinaw & Mackinaw Island. They stayed with Aunt Chris & Uncle Burt. Elly got to spend time with some of her cousins. Elly, Yaya & Walker (cousin) went to Mackinaw Island 1 day & had a great time. Walker took them on an exploring adventure lol. And Elly got to ride on a jet ski - she loved it! At first she didn't want to go on, & let out a blood curdling scream, but then laughed & said it was "Awesome" & didn't want to get off.
September
Elly started her first day of Kindergarten. She was so excited. We all walked there together. Masen even put on his backpack. She loves her teacher. The camera batteries were dead & we didn't know it, so no pictures :( But it was fun & exciting.
Elly also got very sick this month. I won't go into details, but she came down with pneumonia & was hospitalized for 3 nights & 3 days. She was in Children's Hospital of Michigan. Mark & I worked really hard at hiding our concern so she wasn't scared. It worked, she actually kept calling it a hotel. They had a music class, an art cart came came around, a library, and an unlimited amount of restaurant quality food that was delivered to her room anytime she wanted it.
October
Our cat Oreo had kittens. We had no idea she was even pregnant. She gave birth on the night of the 8th. Masen was in bed, but I let Elly stay up & watch/help. She had 2 kittens, 1 didn't make it through the night, but the other did. Mark & decided right away we couldn't keep it, so both kids understood that. We didn't volunteer naming it, but kept calling it baby. But Elly named it Weasel. Masen & Elly were so gentile with her. And Oreo, didn't mind them hold her at all. Oreo had decided she would set up camp in Elly's closest, I think Elly felt special that she choose her room :)
Masen turned 3! We had a small party at our house. We had our kids & the Bennett boy's paint pumpkins again. Then the 4 of them ran around the back yard with the dog lol. Masen got so many presents! We opened just about all of them after so the 4 kids could play with them. They all play so well together :) No pictures yet, their comming.
Then we went ticker treating at Aunt Katy & Uncle Pat's again. It was fun. They said we ALL had to dress up this year. So I was Sookie from True Blood, Mark was Freddie Kroger, Elly was Arial the Little Mermaid, & Masen was a Fireman. lol Katy & Pat were a Monkey & a Banana lol!! Katy & I took the kids out tricker treating while the boys handed out candy. Both kids remembered their manners & loved looking at all the scary decorations. It's funny because most kids are scared of all the scary stuff - but not my kids, they love it! lol
November
Thanksgiving this year was at our house. We had 12 people, 2 dogs, 2 cats & 1 kitten in our house. It was full! The kids loved all the attention from everyone.
December
Weasel left the 1st week of December. The kids took it well, & knew she was going to a good home. Not 1 tear when they were saying good bye :)
Katy & I took the kids to see Santa at my work. They were both excited to see him again. Elly asked for everything under sun, ponies, games. Masen lol - it was hard to hear him, but I did hear him ask for a BIG spaceship & stretched his arms out. Santa asked them if they had been good this year & Elly of course shakes her head yes, & he looks at Masen who says: "Umm, I'm not sure". lol!
Christmas at with my family was nice. Both kids had so many presents! We were very relaxed & took our time as usual. With Mark's family we went to Aunt Katy & Uncle Pat's again. There were so many people! It was a fun having so many & once again both kids had so many presents.
After Christmas (that weekend or the weekend after) Uncle James & I took the kids sledding for the 1st time. It was so much fun! We practically had the whole place to our selves. We had 2 big sled's for the 4 or us. We learned very quickly that we couldn't race, because we kept crashing into each other lol. Eventually we let Elly go by herself. So she went down but James & Masen weren't completely out of the way yet & Elly was heading straight for them. She was about to crash into Masen, so James put his foot out & stopped her sled, & she slid off onto Masen's sled - it was so funny!
Masen is FINALLY potty trained!!! He got it the week of Christmas - best present he could give to Mark & I lol. After he had been using the potty for about 3 days straight, I was tucking him in & told him, that now that he's potty trained he can go to preschool. He said no potty train, & I said he already was & he said no, potty train. Then it hit me... I think he thinks there real is a potty train lol poor kid.
January
Mark & took the kids to a train expo. It was so much fun. We got to ride on little trains. And we got to see whole cities of trains set up! Masen (our train lover) was so excited! And we picked the perfect day, because it was bitterly cold & we were expecting snow, so hardly anyone was there.
Masen had his 1st day of preschool. He was so excited. I had to work that day, but meet Mark & Masen at the school to see him off on his 1st day. He was smiling from ear to ear! His 1st day he had a hard time with carpet time because he wanted to play with all the new toys, but since then no problems. Mark said that the other day when he picked up. He said Masen was the 1st kid to come to the carpet to sing their good bye song.
Oh & a cute Elly story: We were driving 1 evening & I stop at a red light. & I said "Boy it's quite tonight". Elly said to me: "Maybe if you roll your window down it will be lauder" lol!!!
Summer Fun
July 8, 2010
April Kindergarten round up was so much fun. Elly went to a classroom & colored while me & the other parents learned about what to expect. And wow - she's going to be learning so much next year! She will be in kindergarten for full days (they no longer do half days). Afterwords, they did a drawing for a webkin (a stuffed animal that you can play online with). There were 2 for the 80 kids there - & Elly's ticket was pulled! I couldn't believe it. Then we went on a bus ride (they finally have seat belts). She loved it. She was disappointed that she can't ride it to school. But I told her since we're 2 blocks away, she can always ride her bike, so that made her feel better. We got a dog! Her name is Chloe. She's a Mastiff, Sheppard, Shar pia mix. She's a year old. We adopted her from a local rescue group. She's a great new addition to the family. She's wonderful with the kids & the cats. Elly & I went on her last field trip together in April to. We saw the play Peter Cotton Tail. It was cute. The actors would come running around the aisles by the audience. They even had us stand up & do the bunny hop with them lol! May The kids had dentist appointments. Masen is getting better. He didn't scream as much as last time. He got a clean bill of health. Elly is a dentist pro! She was great. She did have 1 cavity that will be filled next week. Memorial Day weekend Mark, me & the kids went to my friend Kim's house. She has a pool. We brought squirt guns. Poor Kim, every time she would go lay down on the chair to get sun, me & Masen would come & squirt her. Both kids loved the pool! Elly learned how to go under water. She can hold her breath for about 2 seconds. But she learned how & that's a huge start. Masen the little dare devil, loved to jump off the side & have you catch him. When I did a canon ball he wanted to try it so bad. Then on Monday we went to Katy & Pat's for a BBQ. It was yummy! We brought Chloe to. And we all played red light green light. Poor Masen just didn't get it lol. He just kept on running! June We did a lot in June!!! For my birthday the family went & saw Toy Story 3 - awesome! Both kids sat really well. Masen didn't move until the last 10min, then he was fascinated by the lights by the stairs lol. As some of you know when I was pregnant with Elly I joined a chat room (or message board, whatever you want to call it lol). We all still keep in regular contact. We've been sending a stuffed animal around to each of our homes. His name is Miles the Monkey. When he comes to stay with us for the week, we write on his blog. We'll he came to us in June. Here's the link for his if you would like to read it: http://milesmonkey.blogspot.com/ Elly's birthday party was a huge hit! We had a pony theme. With Pony's, a petting farm, face painting, & balloon animals. All the kids loved it (and adults). It was Elly's 1st real big bash. The deer kept eating my mom's tree, & the horses kept eating her grass lol. There was a baby goat named Casper, he was only 4mo old.
Elly's Birthday Party:
Mark & I also took the kids to the carnival. We went with our friends, Laura, Chris, & their kids Tyler (3yrs), & Adam (18mo). It was so much fun! There were so many rides that the kids could go on. We stayed all day. Elly’s favorite was the fairs wheel (which I had to cut short – to high for me), & the avalanche. Masen loved the train, the kids bumper boats, & the car. Then I took the kids back w/ Chris, Laura, kids & Cousin Alex (8yrs) for their 1st fireworks. They were beautiful! They both liked them a lot.
Here's pics:
Elly also had her 5yr check up. Doctor says she's right on target, & no shots this time yay! Here's her stats:
Height: 43 inches (60th percentile)
Weight: 36lbs (25th percentile)
July
I know we just started July, so there’s not much to talk about. But Elly just started swim classes. She’s only had one so far but she loves it! She’s in a group of 5-12yrs old, so no parents in the water. She’s really made a lot of progress. She learned how to hold her breath under water for about 10 seconds. And she’s starting to learn how to paddle her arms, to actually swim. I think my the time summer is over she’ll be a fish (or mermaid as she calls herself).
And Masen will be taking his 1st big trip without me or Mark. My mom is taking him to Washington DC for 8 days! They will be fling there, & driving home. I think he’s really going to have a great time with some one on one time with Yaya & Papa. Misc Updates So lately Elly & Masen will hold hands in the car. It's so cute. They're both so proud, they yell, "Ma ma, Ma ma, look at us!". And their favorite new game: calling you the wrong name, so you have to call them the wrong name back.
Update
April 9, 2010
Wow, it's been a long time, sorry! Let's see where did we last leave off... Thanksgiving.
It was very relaxed. We went to my mom's house this year.
December
Took the kids to Santa at my work. Both did great. Elly made a whole list for Santa this year. Masen, sat there for a little bit, then squeezed out of his arms & headed for the pretty ornaments. He's always into something lol!
Christmas was fun. Both kids everything they wanted & more. Katy & Pat had it at their house again, with all his family to - it was so much fun! Elly found little presents for everyone (that they already owned lol). She would wrap them, or put them in bags, & put them under the tree. She's so sweet.
Uncie Stu announced he will be proposing to his longtime girlfriend Sothai in April. Yay a soon to be new Aunt!
January
Both kids didn't make it to midnight this year. But that was ok. They both loved playing in the snow this year. Throwing snow balls, & making snow angels were the best!
February
Mark & I got each kid a balloon. Of course Masen wouldn't let us tie it to his hand, & it blew away. He was so upset :( But he got a replacement, & let us tie it that time. Elly got fun little treats from school.
March
Unfortunately in March we lost Gi Gi Muriel. Both kids took it very well. Mark & I had books to read to them to help explain what had happened, & what will happen. We brought Elly to her funeral. She did great! I had brought her to the funeral home when my mom & I were planning her funeral. She got to see where it was going to be held, & got to see an empty casket. So she was very well prepared. During the viewing she would go up to her casket & pray quietly. My mom had given Elly a flower, which we later saw on Gi Gi Muriel's chest. It was touching. During the service my dad asked if anyone wanted to say anything, & she went right up after Uncie Stu, explaining to us about death, & that everyone dies, & that Gi Gi is ok, because she's in Heaven. It was precious.
On the bright side, we had both Uncle's home. The kids had a blast with them!
We have loosely started potty training with Masen. We ask him if he wants to go sit on the potty, & the answer is always "No potty" lol. So we'll see how it goes.
Kindergarten round up is next week! Elly can't wait to see her new school.
I know I owe you lots of pictures - their coming :)
