Stories 10/28/09 - Wow, it's fall already. It's getting herder and harder to update with busy kiddos! Winter will be here soon...
Back in late July, Nick went for his check up and was 35 lbs. and 39 in (85th percentile). He is doing great! He started preschool the last day of August and loves it! He's made lots of friends, and really likes his teachers Ms. Kim and Ms. Autumn. Last month they had a Western Day party and today, Nick dressed up as Spider-Man for a Halloween party. He's been bring home lots of beautiful artwork, and has been teaching me some new songs. He's learning all kinds of cool things, days of the week, months, muscles in the body, etc!
Yesterday was Nick's second class in his 2nd session of baseball. He really liked soccer but asked to give baseball a try. He is really picking it up fast! He's taking a class called Lil' Sluggers and it's mainly fun games and drills. And a huge bonus for Nick, his old soccer coach (and Maddy's old soccer coach) Coach Mike is teaching the class. Nick has known him since he was a tiny baby, so you know he loves class!
When he's not busy running all over town, he's home playing. Cars, dinosaurs, monsters, super heros, anything Disney, books, pretty much anything keeps him busy. He's a typical boy through and through!
07/22/09 - The summer is flying by! Nicholas had a terrific 3rd birthday last month. He picked out a Mickey Mouse theme and a pirate bounce house with a slide for the yard. He had lots of fun!! Since his party he's become a huge super hero fan. SpiderMan, Batman and Super Man are his favorites. To stay busy over the summer, Nick has been swimming a bit and playing soccer every week. He also completed the summer reading program at the library again this year. He loves books!! And. he's been playing with cars and trucks a lot, lately. All shapes and sizes! Playdates with his cousins are another one of his favorites. We took a week-end trip to Oklahoma to visit Kaitlyn, Haiden and Braiden. Nick had a blast playing from sun up to sun down with another boy. :) In just a little over a month Nick will start pre-school. It's on Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 until 11:00. Nothing major, but a great chance for him to learn a lot and socialize. He's so excited! Today's big news, Nick went to the dentist for his first teeth cleaning. It was scheduled for a "happy" appointment, which was pretty fun. He got to play with all the fun dentist tools, the water sprayers, the sucker-upper wand, everything! But, since he was doing so well, he got a cleaning and exam too (while 2 other kids screamed! Nick was very brave!). Good news is, he's been doing a nice job brushing, his teeth looked great. He thought the dentist was pretty cool, since he got a toy (sword), candy (sugar free) and a new toothbrush. Great job, Nick! Next week, Nick will go to the doctor for his yearly check-up, stay tuned! 05/20/09 - Nick has been having a great Spring! He just finished up a session of Soccer Tots, and is loving it more and more. He was moved up to the 3 year old class and did wonderful! No one could believe he was still just 2 years old. He is just as tall as the other kids and plays just as well (if not better!). Since he likes soccer so much, we just started a new session for the summer. I'm happy to report that Nick has been wearing his "big boys undies" 100% of the time, for a week now. He is doing a great job of taking himself potty and cleaning up. He'll even say "I'll do it myself" when you ask if he'd like help. Yay Nick! When Nick gets real quiet and you can't find him, chances are he's in his room reading. He loves books! We're still attending story time and the summer reading program starts in a couple of weeks. When Nick's not reading, he's playing hero. That could be a Fireman, a "Good Guy" or Pizza Man. We were unaware that a Pizza Man was a hero, but I see his point! While he's trying to help people Maddy is usually following him asking him to marry her (she's playing princess)! Currently, his favorite movies are Wall-E, the Jungle Book and Snow White. In the fall, Nick is signed up for pre-school 2 days a week. He is so excited!! He can't wait to "play and see my friends". But for now, we all getting ready for a summer of fun! Swimming, play dates, etc! 01/20/09 - Nick had a terrific holiday season!! We started the season by meeting Grandma and Gramdpa Bailey in Orlando, Florida for 4 days of Disney World fun. We drove the Tahoe and is was actually a terriffic trip in the car. The kids got along great and had fun watching movies and eating out. While at Disney World, Nick visited Downtown Disney, the Magic Kingdom twice and the Animal Kingdom. He loved meeting Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy, but Pocahontas was the only "Princess" he would meet. He saw the parade, fireworks, got his face painted, played in the fountains at the resort, rode rides....the list goes on. He had so much fun and is still talking about the Winnie the Pooh ride! And, since our return, he's become the biggest Mickey Mouse fan. Santa was good to Nick this year as well. He got lots of big boy toys and has been busy playing in his room ever since. When the weather is nice he's been playing with his new sports center and jumping on the "new" trampoline!! Nick is still going to soccer and looks forward to seeing Coach Mike (Me Mike) every week. 11/23/08 - Nick has had a great fall to say the least!! He got to bounce as much as he wanted at the pumpkin patch. Then he dressed up for Halloween 4 times and trick-or-treated 3 times. He was very excited to be invited to Maddy's pre-school for a Halloween Party. He had so much fun!! Next stop was Cozumel, Mexico for our first family vacation and Nick's first trip to the beach/ocean. He loved it!! He was in the water or eatting pizza the whole trip. He kept calling the ocean the pool. Funny kid! :) He's started a second session of soccer this week and is doing great. We have followed Coach Mike (Maddy's old coach) to Plano and Nick really likes him a lot! After Thanksgiving, Nick is heading to Disney World and then will be getting ready for Santa Claus. He says the upcoming Disney trip is "cool". 10/11/08 - Nick is getting to be such a big boy!!! We converted his crib into a toddler bed a couple of months ago. He loves it and he stays all night!! Some mornings, he still waits for me to come get him. Which reminds me, he's such a little lover. Full of hugs and kisses......so sweet! He's talking so clearly these days, and is so tall!! He and Maddy are great playmates. They are like twins, or best friends at least! He loves to pretend along with Maddy during the day. Anything that Maddy says, Nick says a "Me too!" in reply. Some of his favorites are trucks & cars, dinosaurs, animals, music and books. Maddy is back to pre-school twice a week and Nick quickly adjusted to her being gone! He has become Mommy's shopping buddy, helping me scout out treasures for eBay. Nick recently visited the Dallas Zoo and the State Fair of Texas. He rode his first "roller coaster" and had WAY too much fun. Next up, we'll be heading to a pumpkin patch and Halloween will be here before we know it. Oh, and Nick starts Soccer Tots this Tuesday!! 08/04/08 - The cast is off!! It came off July 15th. On the way home from the doctors we stopped to get a baby pool, to celebrate with water right away! Nick picked out pink. I think he's been hanging out with Maddy way too much. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since the cast has been removed. That means sports and running are approved again. Yippee! Nick has been filling his "non running" time swimming. Either in the baby pool out back or at Grandma's. He loves the water, and is quite the brave little fish. He went to the regular doctor last week. Nick had no shots, that was nice. He was 28 lbs 9 oz (50% percentile) and 35.5 inches tall (80% percentile). Tall and skinny!! He's talking non-stop like Maddy. They are quite the pair, it's like having twins. They have to do everything the same!! Anyway, his verbal skills are advanced, thanks Maddy! :) As soon as Mommy gets used to the idea of having two kids involved in activies, we're signing Nicholas up for Soccer Tots. I really think he'll like it!! 06/20/08 - Nick's cast comes off in 3 weeks!! Yippee! He's been having fun inside with Maddy so far this spring. We've been drawing and coloring, reading and logging books for the Texas summer reading program, taking walks and playing in the yard. Clean and dry activies! Nick has big plans for the summer. He wants to swim at Grandma and John's and start soccer! He's been "playing" before Maddy's class and is pretty good. I can't wait to get him started in an activiy with other kids! Nick still likes Elmo and Bob the Builder but his new favorite is Blue's Clues. He really gets into it! We know this because he's getting really easy to understand. He talks so much and pretty much repeats everything Maddy says. And you know how much Maddy talks! This next week we're gearing up for Nick's 2nd Birthday Party!! It will be Saturday, June 28th at 10am. Just a small family gathering, snacks and cake, play time with cousins. Can't wait to see everyone there!! 04/12/08 - When Nick has had his fill of any given situation or event (meal time, diaper change, eatting, etc.) he will announce "All done!" over and over until you take action. Well, tonight as I'm about to tuck him in, I'm stealing my last snuggles, kisses and hugs, he was "all done". Here's the cute part, he polietly started waving and said "Bye bye, Mama. Goodnight, Mama". He is just soooo sweet! Nick is totally into wearing socks and shoes at all times. He even wears socks to bed. To top it off, he likes to pick out his own socks! He usually does a good job matching. :) Tonight he was very particular about his evening footware. He's such a funny kid!! 03/28/08 - I can't believe Spring is here again! Time is going by so fast, even now that Mommy stays at home!! Hey wait.....Nicholas is 21 months old today!! Nick runs everywhere he goes. He's such a busy boy. He's now talking non-stop like Maddy. He's begining to string words together and you can carry on a conversation with him now (although you won't understand it all). He says things like: "Hey, Mom! Where's Dada?" ,"Hi John. What are you doing?", "There you are!" and his favorite "Be right back". He loves to point out and name everything he sees. He also has terrific manners, saying "please" and "thank you", but please sounds more like "pleeeeeeease". He's so cute! He and Maddy have really been taking advantage of the yard this year. Swing set, sand box, you name it! We will continue to play outside daily until the heat sets in. He seems interested in both soccer and baseball, so we are debating what to sign him up for. I think once he turns 2, we'll do soccer (indoor). He's begun to sit with Maddy on the floor at "big kid" story time at the library. It's designed for 3 and up, so I'm impressed that he sits still for so long (sometimes). Although, he LOVES books. We're reading 2 or 3 times a day at home. Nicholas......you're growing up so fast! We love you!! 1/26/08 - Poor Nicholas....no recent update. Well, here we go!! Nick had a great Christmas. Getting a ton of toys, that's for sure. He loves everything he got and he and Maddy are still playing with everything. Our trip to see Santa before the holidays didn't go well. But the picture still turned out priceless! Right before the holidays, Nick had tooth number 15 and 16 come in. Right in time for his appetite surge. He's eatting us out of house and home already. He is quite the "cookie monster". Last week we had his 18 month appt. He was 25lb 11oz, up to the 60th percentile and was 34" tall (80%). He is doing so well. He's talking ALL THE TIME, like Maddy. Again the Dr. was impressed with his verbal skills (for his age and sex). He says so many words now (I'd guess 60-75) and also likes to sing and dance. He still loves Elmo and Bob the Builder. He loves to play with cars, fix things with his workbench and follow Maddy around. They play really well together!! He too, is really beginging to love the world of reading (yippee). He tags along to story time and has begun to do the crafts with sister (it's for big kids). The librarians all love him. He also will bring books to you throughout the day, "book, book". He's growing up so fast!! We love you Nicholas!! 11/11/07 - Nick is 16 months old!!!!!! He's getting so big and is into everything. He climbs everything, even out of his crib!! We all went to Missouri in October to visit Great Grandma Skelton and Aunt Mary. Nick did really well on the car ride. I don't think the DVD player hurt any! He trick-or-treated twice, once at Boo on Ballard and then in our neighborhood on Halloween! He was a cute Pirate! Last week he got 2 more teeth, both eye teeth came in. So he's up to 14 teeth. He's says a ton of words now, that I've kinda lost count. He says little phases too, like "Here you go" and "Thank you". He still loves Elmo, but also likes Bob the Builder and Blue Clue's. He still loves books, yippee! Another reader in the house! We love you Nicholas!!! 10/10/07 - Nick just had his 15 month appointment. He's doing terrific!!!! He's 24 lbs and 6 oz. That's only the 60th percentile. Poor little skinny thing! He's 32" tall, 75th percentile. And his head is also in the 75th percentile. Funny thing is that he's 2 inches taller and 1 pound heavier than Maddy at this age!! He's in the 20 month range developmentaly. He's so smart!! He got 4 shots today and is a very grumpy bear. Guess you can't blame him! He's also added these 3 words: boo, quack and hat. Nick is so active! He can now climb up on our chairs by himself. I caught him wacthing Diego with Maddy while making breakfast. He loves playing outside, running after balls mostly. Blocks, books and cars are also favorites. But, don't let me forget, he loves playing with anything that belongs to Maddy!!! 10/05/07 - Nick's newest words: meow and book. Speaking of books, he loves "Goodnight Moon", we read it at least 4 or 5 times a day! 09/18/07 - Nick's new words for the day: Ball and Bump. 09/12/07 - Nick is a big boy now! He got his first haircut on September 1st. He doesn't have that "baby" look anymore. It was so sad that I cried! He pretty much runs everywhere he goes now, so he's usually sporting some bumps and bruises. He's such a little dare devil too. He'll climb anything! He loves to chash Maddy around and get into her stuff. But....when Maddy's at pre-school, Nick will sit and play by himself and is so quiet. Who would have thought Nick could be quiet and still??!! Here's a list of Nick's words at 14 months: Hello, Bye Bye, Maa (Maddy), Mama, Dada, Uhm Ah (Grandma), Elmo, Juice, This, That, Uh Oh, Clock, Coo Coo (as in clock), Pop Pop and Cook Cook (as in cookie or Cookie Monster). Elmo and Uh Oh are his 2 favorite words. Speaking of Elmo....Nick is obsessed with Elmo. He's not really into watching TV, unless it's Elmo. He'll point to the TV in the kitchen and say "Elmo, Elmo" until you turn it on. He has an Elmo doll that he carries everywhere and another Elmo that he sleeps with. He even has light-up Elmo shoes! I'll take him in for his 15 month check up at the end of the month. As always, I can wait to see how much he's grown! 07/26/07 - Nick is totally walking now. I'd say about last Sunday, the 19th, was the turning point, when he walked more than crawled. He's on the move now! He still gets all tickled with himself and falls down because he's so excited. What a cutie!!!!!!! Nick completed the Texas Summer Reading Program for 2007! What a smart boy! Okay, all he had to do was listen to us read. We hope he grows to love books as much as Maddy and Mommy. He loves to go to the library each week for story time. I think he likes to flirt with the libraians more than listen to the books, but that's Nick for you!!!!! We've moved him into 24 month outfits only beacuse he's so tall. If he's wearing seperates, he can still wear 18 months. We've also moved into a size 4 diaper! He's really using those 12 teeth! He eats so much faster and so much more than Maddy does. Speaking of Maddy, he loves to play with her! She's very sweet and patient with him. Bill and I are so blessed!!!!!! 07/13/07 - Well Nick is almost totally walking! He's been taking between 3 and 8 steps since last Sunday, but has really picked up the pace the last two days. He'll cruise along the furniture until he's run out of and then walk to his destination. He's up to about 15 or so steps until he falls. He's so proud of himself, way to go Nick!!!! He's saying a few words: mama, dada, uh-oh, bye-bye, and juice. He just visited the doctor and she was very impressed. She thought he was doing great verbally (he talked a lot during our visit) and he is right on track physically. He was 31.25 inches (85th percentile) and 22 lb 14 oz (55th percentile), tall and skinny! He's pretty much eatting all table food now and he eats more than Maddy! I guess having 12 teeth makes it easy!!! Number 9, 10 and 11 all came in right before his 1st birthday and 12 came in a week later. Each day is bringing something new....we can't wait to see what's next. We love you Nick! 06/28/07 - Nicholas is one today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 06/27/07 - Nicholas has a new baby cousin! Cohen John Lewin was born this morning. He was 18.5 inches long and weighed 7lbs. 3 oz. Congratualtions Aunt Misty and Uncle Craig!
