5/17/5012--Due to Facebook usage, we have been neglecting out BHP website, but we will try to do better, as this site is our only "journal" for our children, as we don't keep scrapbooks or baby books!
Brody is finishing up his first full year at the Lovettsville Montessori Preschool. He turned 4 in April and has learned SO much at school. He has learned to sew a button, is doing 2 and 3 digit addition, has a handful of site words in his repetoire, and knows how to sound out words by their letter sounds. He is also a pretty good big brother and doing all of the typical things a big brother does: fight with his sister, playing with his sister, and he really does care about her. When she isn't with us, he asks us where she is and wants to go get her, which we think is so sweet. He says the funniest things...yesterday he told me that a sprinkler is like a giant washing machine so he could run though it with his clothes on! He also said it was like a car wash. He is just so darned cute. :)
Campbell--where do we start with our little spitfire? She is adorable, spunky, and chunky! She makes us laugh, talks up a storm (half the time we do understand what she is saying) and loves her brother. She does everything he does...the other night Brody kneeled down at the table to eat his snack and she saddled right up to him and did the same. They love listening to 'Down by the Station" in the car which they call the "crazy song" and dance to it (several times)
3/25/2012--Yikes! It's been a few months since I've updated the site, but I haven't forgotten about it! Now that I've gotten a new camera, I've certainly been trying to get pics of the kids, but unfortunately, this age is REALLY hard to photograph as I've learned.
Kid updates:
Campbell is a hoot. She has about 30 words in her vocabulary, 10 of which we understand :) She loves to run, climb, and laugh
Brody is excited about turning 4 next month and got a new superhero room for his birthday.
11/30/2011--This has been a fun fall with the Wright's! Besides a few colds, the weather has been beautiful and the kids have been well. We had a wonderful time seeing family and friends over the Thanskgiving holidays and are now looking forward to Christmas.
A few things going on with the kids:
Brody's speech is amazing. He says things like "I already got my clothes", and "Mommy's right, I did not listen today". Advanced stuff for a 3 1/2 year old. He rides a bike with training wheels, dresses himself, says please and thank you, and is an overall really great kid. He does a "star chart" every night before bed to earn special treats at the end of the week. He can count to 50, reads a few sight words, and is doing 3 digit + 3 digit addition with carrying at school. He can do puzzle maps of the continents. I hope he's not going to be bored in Kindergarten!
Campbell turned 16 months a few days ago. She is signing the following words: Milk, all done, please, thank you, nods yes and no, more, and music. She learned to say Mama, Dada, Nana, Book, and Up. She is working on "Brody" but that is a pretty tough one and it comes out "ugh-de". :) She can identify over 30 pictures when asked, will follow 2 step verbal directions. She will throw away her diaper, get a book and put another one back. and when you ask her to come to you, she runs like the devil!
We love these two like you wouldn't believe.
10/4/2011--It's been a while since our last update but here is a quick run-down:
Brody: He loves school, loves going to Nana's M-W, and loves going to daycare Thurs-Fri.
Talks non-stop, and likes to tell us to stop talking!
Is into pirates, being a super hero, Toy Story, Cars, Madagascar, and Rio
He can write his and Campbells name, count to 30, spell mommy, daddy, and a few other words
He is learning simple sight words at school and the maps of the continents
Campbell: Loves food
Sign language: music, eat, milk, water, please, thank you (working on it), points to everything
Says: not much...but she points to what she wants and says "ahhh!"
Loves: playing with Brody, being chased, diving on pillows, being upside down
Can do: matching puzzles (wow!), identifies a few pictures when we ask (where's the dog?)
Funnies: Plays peekaboo in the car, seems to "get" playful jokes, and throws herself on the floor in a tantrum and checks to see if we are watching.
7/25/2011--Campbell's first birthday party was great---she was our little honey-bee and bee-u-tiful! We had fun throwing her party with all of our closest friends and family. We had a great visit at Gigi and Grampa's house on Sunday and got to have pizza, sun, and fun. Campbell learned how to go backwards down the stairs while we were there...I hope she is on her way to walking soon!
7/2/2011--To sum up June, Brody started Level 1 swimming lessons and is learning things like blowing bubbles, kicking, and hanging onto the wall at the pool. Level 2 starts soon! Campbell has been crawling and cruising and has 4 teeth, and 2 more on the way.
My mom has been diagnosed with endometrial cancer. She is having surgery to remove everything on 7/6 and prayers are appreicated. Six rounds of chemo will follow and knock out the cancer, we feel very sure about that! Stay strong, Gigi! We love you!
In honor of my mom, I am going to be switching to an anti-inflammation diet. Google it. It is a very beneficial diet.
My sister has been loving Florida and has a bid in on a beautiful home. We can't wait to visit her!
And lastly, Mike has been training for the Army 10 miler in October and is 3/4 way to his goal weight...he has lost 15 pounds.
6/14/2011--After battling a 7 day high fever and fatigue, as well as finding a deer tick attached to Brody's chest, it turns out our little 3 year old guy has Lyme Disease. We are lucky that we caught it due to multiple bulls-eye rashes all over his legs, buttocks, arms and face (NOT on the site of the bite---people--check your kids daily!). Brody is on a 20 day course of amoxicillian and hopefully will not have to battle Lyme disease for the rest of his life. We are lucky he got the rash, otherwise we would not have known.
Comments Poor little man!!! Sending hugs!! Hope the treatment works!!! - CeeCee <3

5/23/2011---Campbell crawled for the first time 2 days ago on 5/21/2011! She beat Brody by a week...so she officially crawled at 9 3/4 months old!
5/19/2011--We had a first the other day---we had to grease Campbell's thighs out of her crib slats. If it hadn't been scary at the time, we would have taken a picture, as it's a pretty funny story now!
In other news, Campbell has been coughing for a month, has had 4 days of fevers, and Brody has been about the same, minus all the heat. We are hoping for a healthy summer!
Campbell is still not crawling, but as a friend said...slow and steady wins the race! She will be 10 months old at the end of May---guess who also crawled at 10 months old? And Brody is doing great, now, so Cam's future looks pretty bright.
Brody is doing wonderfully in school. Although I really don't know what he does there all day since I can't be there to drop/pick him up. He has learned all the sounds of all the letters, counts to 30, recognizes all lowercase, uppercase, and cursive letters, and knows all 7 continents. Not to mention that he memorizes a book the moment you read it to him and can 'read' it back verbatim, page by page! He's a smart little dude.
Campbell is babbling with the exception of the /m/ and /n/ sounds, but Brody hardly babbled at all so this is a nice change for us to have a babbler! She is able to pull herself to standing and likes to "dance" to music. She is waving, too!
Having two kids has been a joy...and we wish we had money or we'd have a bunch more!
4/20/2011--April has been an exciting month. After Mike and I returned from a very special 10th anniversary/35th birthday trip to New York, tons of famiy had birthday's in April, including Brody, who turned 3!
He is doing extremely well--he had his 3 year doctor check up and is 75% percentile in weight AND height! So, no need to fatten this kid up--he's well on his way!
Campbell is doing really well, too. She will be 9 months old at the end of april and is a little chunky monkey. She is trying really hard to crawl and has learned to push herself into a sittin position from her belly--today!!
I am home with the kids all to myself this Spring Break and it's wonderful! I love being a teacher and having the opportunity to have a vacation with my kids...and Nana is getting to go on a trip to Mass to meet her grandson, Rowan! We can't wait to meet him, hopefully this summer.
Lots of egg hunts this week---another is Saturday at the John Deere place. Love to all and a Happy Easter!
3/23/2011--The kids have been getting into all sorts of things over the last month. Brody has been doing great Lovettsville Montessori school--he LOVES going and has learned so much. His speech astounds us every day...he is inquisitive and adorable! He said to me the other day when he didn't hear what I said "Mommy, what did you say?". He also told me "mommy, are you going to pick up the dog poop in the yard? It's right over THERE!"
We went to the Old Town Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 5th with Chris, Zach, and Charlotte. My cousin, Chris Belyea, met us there, too. It was fun and Brody seemed to have fun.
Campbell will be 8 months old in a few days. At 7 months and a week she got her first tooth, and the second one followed shortly thereafter. She has 2 adorable bottom teeth and is eating like a champ. Unfortunately, she also got a sinus infection, so she is receiving her first bout of antibiotics. Probably won't be the last.
Mike got terribly sick, too...and I'm hoping Brody and I stay healthy!
Mike and I had a WONDERFUL 10 year anniversary. Flowers, earrings, a bead for my bracelet, and dinner out with the Abi-Najm's was a perfect way to spend our annivesary. Mike got a pair of motorcycle boots from me...not as perfect, but needed!
I dare not mention the surprise trip to NYC over my 35th birthday! Thank you Pat and Jon for helping Mike plan the surprise and giving us your air miles for the hotel, show, and train. :) And thank you so much to Jim and Lorna (mom and dad) and Great Grandpa for the extremely generous anniversary/birthday money so we can eat and shop!! And save....don't worry!
March has been so fun...I hope April, May, and June can match!
2/27/2011--congratulations to Emily and Sean and their newest addition, Luke Robert, born today at 3:15am, 6lb, 9oz! Emily is champ and made it through au natural...go Em! We can't wait to get our families together and will need to put out NINE plates for meals!!
2/8/2011--A fast 2 months have gone by since our last update. Campbell started rolling front to back at 4 months old, sitting up independently at 5 months old, and at 6 months, she is rolling back to front. She started babbling right at 6 months old--lots of dada's, and gaga's. Brody never babbled, so this is a special thing for us to see! We think Cam is going to be an early walker :)
Brody, on the other hand, is quite a talker and a smart little guy! He is starting to enjoy having Campbell around and is a great little dude. He has been going to Leesburg Open Arms for the last 3 weeks and is doing pretty well. He still goes to his Totally 2s class on Thurs. and Fri's and spends those days, in addition to Monday's with Nana.
12/11/2010--We haven't updated in a while but all is well with our little family! We have been awaiting Santa's arrival and have been talking a lot about Christmas lately. Brody seems to be somewhat excited and had had fun meeting Santa at the firehouse today. Neither he nor Campbell cried and Brody actually told Santa he wanted a Gorilla DVD and Santa was able to come through!!
Both kids have had a stomach bug which is almost on it's way out of here, thank goodness.
Not much else to report...we both are still working, Brody is still talking, and Campbell is still a "little baby" as Brody says!
11/3/2010--We have been hanging in there with 2 kids and life has been good! Campbell is the EASIEST baby in the world...she lays around and observes the world around her for the most part. She still doesn't have a good nap schedule, but even if she's tired, she doesn't cry...she's simply AWAKE.
Brody is starting to notice that his little sister exists and we catch him giving her hugs and kisses when we aren't looking. He loves to shake rattles for her (sometimes a little too close to her face) and he likes to tell us all the things she is not allowed/can't do because "She's a WITTLE BABY".
Brody's speech is incredible and he is starting to get imaginative! Today, he told me the white moon was in the sky and the clouds look like marshmallows. He also loves to cook and helped me make dinner last night...pesto balsamic chicken! We did end up spilling an entire quart of half/half on the floor, but oh well.
Brody also has turned a new leaf and has discovered the power of his voice through SCREAMING. Like, for hours. And he's good at it.
10/16/2010--Today marks Brody's 2 1/2 birthday! We went to Pumpkinville today and he had a great time petting the farm animals, chasing the furry chickens (they have a name, I'm sure) and going down the big hay slide.
Brody is just growing so fast! His speech amazes us, especially since we were so worried about him a year ago. As a baby, he didn't smile hardly at all, coo, or babble at all. Now, he speaks in complete sentences, says please and thank you without being reminded, coughs in his sleeve, and is completely potty trained. He's a smart little guy...he seems to know stuff that we didn't know he knew!
Campbell is growing like a weed. At her 2 month check up she weighed 11.5 lbs and was in the 50-75th percentile for weight, 50th for height, and 25th for head. She has little feet like Joanna but is pretty much identical to Mike at this point. She is still on alimentum formula due to a possible milk sensitivity but we are going to try to switch her to a milk based formula in a few weeks to see if she can tolerate it She is a VERY happy baby...very content, smiles all the time, and makes the most adorable cooing sounds at us.
Brody is starting to pay attention to Campbell. I caught him kissing her the other day, so I think we are seeing the start of a beautiful relationship. Alright...not really, but at least they can be siblings!
Brody will be dressed as a pirate for Halloween and Campbell will be a butterfly, thanks to Nana and Pop for Brody's costume and the Abi-Najm's for Campbell's. We are looking forward to trick or treating with the Stevens on the 30th in Berryville and staying in Lovettsville for the 31st. We think Brody may actually enjoy Halloween this year!
9/16/2010--Campbell is almost 2 months old and Brody will be 2 and a half next month! We simply can't believe how fast time really goes. Campbell is a great baby. She is sleeping an average of 5 hours straight at night, give or take and never cries at night. We have never even had to get out of bed after feeding her and putting her back in her pack and play. As soon as she starts consistently sleeping more than 6 hours straight, she'll be going to her room for night time, which is very cool.
Campbell started smiling at 5-6 weeks old, a big change from what Brody did--who smiled at 4 months. She is a very happy little baby and does a lot of hanging out and watching Brody play.
Joanna is returning to work on 10/4, when Campbell is about 9 weeks old. Brody and Campbell have been doing pretty well together. Brody is learning how to be a big brother, but his life is still about about...well....Brody. He asks to hold Cam's bottle on occasion, but that's about it for their current relationship.
Brody started his Totally 2's class today. He washed his hands and said "bye bye, Mommy!". We are so proud of him.
8/14/2010--Our second week home with Campbell has been great! Brody is learning about his new little sister and learning to share the attention and we are learning how to split our attention between 2 kids. Campbell gained A WHOLE POUND since she was born as of her 2 week follow up appointment. She loves to eat, sleep, poop, and pee. Not much different about that than any other newborn. She loves to be held and to sleep on us. Nights have been managable and we're hoping she sleeps through the night by 10 weeks like Brody did.
Joanna feels great and has had no blood pressure problems, iron problems, or sleep problems (minus middle of the night feedings). This was a very different pregnancy from Brody! We highly recommend the Loudoun Community MIdwives!
We are so grateful to our wonderful family and friends for all of the love, support, and meals that have been brought to us!
